The Usos Took Time To Self-Reflect, Prioritize, And Slow Down During WWE Absence
The Usos made their return to WWE television this past Friday on SmackDown, helping Roman Reigns in his battle against Dolph Ziggler and King Corbin.
The Usos had not been on television since July 29, 2019. On July 25, Jimmy Uso was arrested for DUI. He was found not guilty of the charges in December.
Appearing on WWE After The Bell, The Usos discussed their nearly six-month absence from WWE television and how they spent their time away from the company.
Jimmy said, “It was a whole lot of self-reflecting and prioritizing. But it was mainly being with the family. We never get a chance to be home — only if you’re injured that’s like the only time we get some time off. We were running hard, running on fumes. We had to take a step back, sit home, sit still, and heal.”
Jey chimed in to add, “Heal is the most important word.”
While Jimmy’s DUI was not mentioned during the interview, he did seemingly hint at the situation while discussing his time off.
“We’re human beings. We make mistakes. The Usos make a mistake and everybody knows about it. When we do that, we never had a chance to sit still because you stay moving so fast. We’re home a day and a half, the next day you’re on the road and in five cities in four nights. We never really sat still and got to realize that, when you mess up, it trickles down. The most people it trickles to is your circle, your family, your kids, close friends. You start to lose focus.”
Jimmy’s DUI arrest in July wasn’t the first time the brothers found themselves in legal trouble. Jey was arrested for DUI in January 2018 and Jimmy was arrested for disorderly conduct and obstruction of justice in February 2019.
Jimmy continued, “It started to get rough. The road moves quick and you better take time for yourself and slow down. That’s exactly what we did. Took that time, slowed down, and now everybody talking about our comeback saying we look all young and we’re looking fresh.”
Jey added, “Sometimes, you just need to sit still. Everything becomes a blur.”
The Usos were also thankful that those in the locker room welcomed them back with open arms and were happy to be back in the mix and backstage. You can view highlights of their return to WWE SmackDown by clicking here.
