Longtime PWG Ring Announcer Jon Ian Passes Away
Fightful is sad to report that longtime Pro Wrestling Guerrilla ring announcer Jon Ian has passed away. Ian was a regular on the California Independent scene, getting his start with Rick Bassman and UPW. He worked as a promoter and commissioner for Mach-1 Wrestling and was a producer for Championship Wrestling from Hollywood.
Ian had battled multiple health issues over the years, including a three and a half week coma. He started up a GoFundMe in 2015 detailing some of his issues.
Hey everyone, I really want to thank you for your continued support through this illness but I need another favor from you all. Last June I suffered two heartfelters and I coded twice.(died twice). From there I was in a coma for about 3 1/2 weeks. Once I came to, I spent time learning to walk, read, write, and feed myself. I returned to stay home with my mom ever since to complete my rehabilitation in San Bernardino. I won this part of the battle , But the war continues.
Sad to hear about the passing of Jon Ian. One of the best ring announcers to hold a mic, one of the kindest people I have ever met and one of the most loving individuals to ever exist. From PWG to Mach1 to CWFH this is a great loss.
Rest In Power Sir.
