Conor McGregor Wants Consistency & Competition In 2020

Former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor returns to action at UFC 246, facing Donald Cerrone in the main event of the evening.

If there are two things that McGregor expects in the forthcoming year, it is consistency and competition.

“For me, I’m back in my old frame of mind,” McGregor told The Mac Life (via Nolan King of MMA Junkie). “I just want consistency. I just want competition. It’s what I look to do – to be in that healthy state of mind, and my body, also. That’s it. So whoever, wherever … I have many shapes, many styles that I’m assessing from afar. But they’re all just blank faces.”

McGregor has had a sporadic few years as a professional MMA fighter, competing just two times in the UFC between 2016 and 2019, plus a boxing match against Floyd Mayweather in August of 2017.

The former two division champion also looks forward to getting that sharpness back when he steps back into the Octagon in a few weeks.

“I look forward to getting that competition under my belt – get that sharpness back,” McGregor said. “I’m going to put on a beautiful display on Jan. 18, get my fans excited, and get the forgetful MMA industry (excited). It’s such a forgetful game. One guy can have a win or two wins and they’re on top of the world. Then a guy can have a loss and he’s at the bottom. I’m going to remind everyone, then continue to climb, continue to get my sharpness and build on it – see where it goes. ”

UFC 246 takes place on Saturday, January 18 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
