WWE NXT Results for 1/1/20 NXT Year End Awards, Dusty Classic Teams Revealed
The 2019 NXT year end awards and the teams for this year’s Dusty Classic will be announced today at 8pm EST on USA Network!
Good evening Fight Fans, and welcome to our coverage of tonight’s edition of WWE NXT! Please enjoy the show and be sure to check out our post-show podcast!
-We open the show with an extended video package for the year in NXT before we throw to the announce team in the studio where they talk about the banner year NXT had in 2019 before the NXT Tag Team Championship Fatal Four Way Ladder match from Takeover 25 is announced as the number three nominee for match of the year with a subsequent extended video package recapping nearly the entire match in which The Street Profits became the new champions.
-We get the nominees of the Tag Team of the Year including Street Profits, NXT UK’s Grizzled Young Veterans, Viking Raiders, Undisputed Era and South Wales Subculture before it’s announced that Undisputed Era take the award and Undisputed Era come out to the ring in the empty arena to celebrate where William Regal presents them the golden bell awards.
-We get the nominees for the male competitor of the year featuring NXT champion Adam Cole, Tyler Bate, Tommaso Ciampa, WALTER and Velveteen Dream in which Adam wins and UE come back out and is presented the gold bell for a second time. We then get the nominees for female competitor of the year featuring Shayna Baszler, Io Shirai, Toni Storm, NXT UK Women’s champion Kay Lee Ray, Bianca Belair and NXT Women’s champion Rhea Ripley in which the longest reigning Women’s Champion Baszler wins before she and the other two members of the Horsewomen come out to be awarded the golden bell. Shayna says that she’s not going anywhere even if she did lose the title before they leave as we go to commercial.
-We come back to an extended video package for the Rivalry of the Year between Johnny Gargano and Adam Cole where Gargano and Cole come out alone to accept their awards before we get a recap of the women’s WarGames Match from NXT Takeover:WarGames in which the women’s roster made history and Rhea Ripley led her team to victory which is the number two nominee for match of the year.
-We get the nominees for Future Star of the Year, KUSHIDA, Xia Li, Bronson Reed, Tegan Nox, Dakota Kai, Isaiah Scott,Taynara, Cameron Grimes and Ilja Dragunov in which Dakota Kai is announced as the winner. Kai comes out to the ring and receives her award before saying that everyone that voted for her is late to the party on her being a star before saying that she makes her own opportunities now as we go to commercial.
-We get the teams announced for the Dusty Classic including the team of Matt Riddle and Pete Dunne, NXT Tag Team champions Undisputed Era’s Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly, Forgotten Sons, KUSHIDA and a mystery partner, Grizzled Young Veterans, NXT UK Tag Team champions Gallus, Imperium and South Wales Subculture before we get the winner of Takeover of the Year with NXT Takeover:WarGames.
-We have the nominees for Breakout Star of the Year featuring Damian Priest, Piper Niven, Dominic Dijakovic, NXT Cruiserweight champion Angel Garza, Joe Coffey, Matt Riddle, NXT Women’s champion Rhea Ripley, Keith Lee and Candice LeRae before it’s announced that Keith Lee is the Breakout Star of the Year. Lee is then awarded the golden bell by Triple H as we go to commercial.
-We return to the final nominee for Match of the Year featuring the NXT Championship Two Out of Three Falls match between the champion Adam Cole and the challenger Johnny Gargano in the rubber match in their bitter year long rivalry in which Johnny became the new champion. Adam Cole then wins his third golden belt of the night as he’s announced as the Overall Competitor of the Year as we go off the air.
