Sean Ross Stats For The Wrestling Year 2019

– The December 26 Madison Square Garden house show was the first non-televised live event to feature two title changes in 2019.

– Excluding EVOLVE and Worlds Collide, there were 25 WWE special events on the WWE Network in 2020. Eight of them were NXT or NXT UK.

– New Day became the all-time longest cumulative reigning tag team champions in WWE history in 2019, passing Demolition.

Bray Wyatt/The Fiend did not get pinned or submitted on WWE TV in 2019.

– Walter ends the year as the longest reigning champion in WWE. Becky Lynch is close by for second.

– 2019 saw Bill Goldberg in the ring longer from a time perspective than any year since 2004.

– There were only two WWE World Championship title changes in 2019, and only one in 2018. There were five in 2016 and 2017 each, respectively.

Seth Rollins main evented eight of those special events, the most of anyone. Becky Lynch main evented four, which is the most of any woman.

– Nine performers from Wrestle Kingdom 13 would leave to go work for AEW, another for MLW, and one more for WWE.

– After winning the NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Titles last January, Ryusuke Taguchi, Toru Yano and Togi Makabe defended them four times.

– Will Ospreay has the most IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title defenses since Hiromu Takahashi in 2017.

– The IWGP U.S. Title has still never been held by a Japanese wrestler.

– Kazuchika Okada is the only person to hold the IWGP Heavyweight Championship longer than 210 days since April 2013, and he’s done it four times since then. He extended his all-time cumulative days reigned record with the title.

– Okada also passed Hiroshi Tanahashi on the all-time successful title defenses list, and now sits at 29.

– No new IWGP Intercontinental Champion has been able to defend the title successfully twice in all of 2018 or 2019.

– Guerrillas of Destiny’s IWGP Heavyweight Tag Title run has them second all time in defenses with 7.

– Taya became the longest-reigning Impact Knockouts Champion in history. She’ll pass the one year mark during the first week of January. She is well behind Gail Kim for combined days as champion.

– Aside from Tessa Blanchard, every person who went into 2019 holding an Impact Championship left the company.

– Nick Aldis passed the one year mark as NWA World’s Champion. He’s the longest reigning Champion since Blue Demon Jr. from 2008-2010.

The Rock N’ Roll Express won the NWA World Tag Team Titles for the first time since April 2000. They have held versions of the NWA/WCW Tag Team Title in four straight decades.

– 2019 was the only year of The Big Show’s career that he didn’t end up having a match.
