NJPW Clarifies Rules For Wrestle Kingdom 14 Texas Death Match
The rules have been clarified for the Texas Death Match between Jon Moxley and Lance Archer at Wrestle Kingdom 14 Night One.
According to NJPW, the match can only end by 10-count knockout or submission. There will be no pinfalls or disqualifications. Some fans were confused when the match was originally announced, wondering if it was just a No DQ match under the Texas Death Match name.
Archer will be defending his IWGP United States Championship in the bout against Moxley, who was forced to relinquish the title prior to King of Pro Wrestling in October. Scheduled to defend against Juice Robinson, Moxley missed the event due to travel issues from Typhoon Hagibis. Archer would defeat Robinson at the event to win the vacant title. Moxley returned to NJPW on the final night of World Tag League, laying out Archer and challenging him to a Texas Death Match.
