Report: John Dodson Faces Nathaniel Wood At UFC Fight Night Rio Rancho
A bantamweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night Rio Rancho as #12 John Dodson faces Nathaniel Wood.
Sherdog first reported the bout, but its placement on the card isn’t known at this time.
Dodson (20-11-0) enters the contest while in the midst of a two fight losing streak, dropping bouts to the duo of Jimmie Rivera and Petr Yan. Dodson has twice before challenged for the UFC Flyweight Title, losing to then champion Demetrious Johnson at UFC On Fox 6 and UFC 191. Dodson hasn’t picked up a victory in nearly two years, with that last win coming over Pedro Munhoz at UFC 222.
Wood (16-3-0) is undefeated thus far under the UFC banner, having defeated Johnny Eduardo, Andre Ewell and Jose Alberto Quinonez. Wood only competed once in 2019, making it his least active year as a professional MMA fighter since 2012. Wood has competed a total of nineteen times as a professional MMA fighter and only two of those bouts went the distance.
UFC Fight Night Rio Rancho takes place on Saturday, February 15 from the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico with Jan Blachowicz and Corey Anderson headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
