Sting Believes He Could Pull Off A Match Against The Undertaker

Sting was forced to retire after WWE Night of Champions 2015 when he took a buckle bomb courtesy of Seth Rollins. In the match, Sting’s body gave out on him on the buckle bomb, and it was later revealed he suffered from cervical spinal stenosis.

Despite being retired, Sting believes he could still pull off one more match if asked.

“If there was a ’Taker situation at WrestleMania, I would listen to that phone call,” said Sting to Sports Illustrated. “I could get in condition and I could pull it off. I think my career is done. I still think about the ‘Taker situation every year, but I don’t think it’s going to happen.”

When Sting made his WWE debut in 2014, fans immediately clamored for a dream match against The Undertaker. The two men were the cornerstones of their respective companies during the Monday Night Wars in the 90s. But WWE went in a different direction at WrestleMania 31, pairing Sting against Triple H and The Undertaker against Bray Wyatt.

Elsewhere during the interview, Sting reflected on his battles with Mick Foley and Kurt Angle.

“I was just thinking about Mick Foley and the matches I had with him way back when he was Cactus Jack. I’d never seen somebody do more devastation to a human body, his own body, than Cactus Jack. I can still remember the sound of his body hitting the cement. I was also there the night in Germany when he lost his ear. Mick was unbelievable.”

Sting continued, “Kurt was like Shawn Michaels, he never had a bad match. He could have a match with a broomstick and sell the place out.”

Sting was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016. You can read more about Sting’s desire to face The Undertaker by clicking here.
