Urijah Faber Still Interested In Fighting, Giving Up On Title Aspirations

Urijah Faber kicked off the UFC 245 main card, suffering a third round knockout loss to the surging Petr Yan.

A defeated Faber may have had a realization after the third round knockout loss, as he has seemingly given up on any title aspirations.

“I’m not going to be pursuing the belt at this moment,” Faber said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show (via Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie). “I’m going to be chilling with the family, staying in great shape, staying in the gym, and it’s a ‘I could or I couldn’t.’”

Faber ended a self-imposed retirement at UFC Fight Night Sacramento, defeating Ricky Simon by first round TKO.

Just because Faber has given up on those title aspirations, it doesn’t mean fans won’t see him compete in the Octagon anymore.

“I’m not doing a fight just to have a fight,” Faber said. “I’ll do it on my terms if I want to do it to celebrate my birthday, or if there’s something that’s really intriguing.”

There is no word yet on just when Faber may return to action, as the fighter was also booted from the UFC Bantamweight Division rankings after the loss to Yan.
