Danny Garcia vs. Ivan Redkach Announced For January 25 Showtime Card
Danny Garcia’s upcoming fight at the Barclays Center has been announced with a super bantamweight title eliminator on the undercard.
Showtime announced that Garcia will face Ivan Redkach in the main event of a tripleheader taking place at the Barclays Center on January 25. The fight is a WBC welterweight title eliminator with the winner being the mandatory challenger to the title being held by unified champion Errol Spence Jr., who is still recovering from a car accident he had a couple of months ago.
Garcia, who has won world titles at junior welterweight and welterweight, is looking to not only secure another shot at the WBC title, but is trying to get on a win streak for the first time since he started his pro career winning his first 33 fights. Garcia last fought in April when he beat Adrian Granados, dropping him multiple times en route to the victory.
Redkach has been on a three-fight win streak since dropping consecutive fights to Argenis Mendez and John Molina Jr. In 2019 alone, Redkach scored wins inside the distance against Tyrone Harris and former world champion Devon Alexander.
Also announced for the televised card is former unified junior middleweight champion Jarrett Hurd taking on Francisco Santana. This will be Hurd’s first fight since he lost the WBA and IBF titles to Julian Williams back in May. The two were set to have a rematch, but the fight fell through and Williams is set to defend his titles against Jeison Rosario in February. Santana has faced notable names in the past such as Sadam Ali and Jose Benavidez Jr., but has only won one fight in his past four.
Opening the telecast is a WBO super bantamweight title eliminator between unbeaten rising contenders Arnold Khegai and Stephen Fulton. The current WBO champion is Emanuel Navarrete, who just wrapped up his third title defense since August.
Khegai is coming into the fight with a 16-0-1 record and is coming off an eight-round decision win against Vladimir Tikhonov. Fulton, who also holds the IBO title, had a banner year where he picked up a win over former world title challenger Paulus Ambunda in May and then knocked out previously-unbeaten Isaac Avelar in August.
