Exclusive: Scott Norton Praises Braun Strowman, Calls Joey Janela A ‘Tough Son Of B*tch’
Very few wrestlers from the 90s carried the type of reputation Scott Norton did. “Flash” was known as one of the toughest guys in the business and one of the strongest, with tales of him smashing wrestlers in arm wrestling contests still being told to this day.
Fightful caught up with Norton at WrestleCade and asked Norton, who, if anyone, among today’s stars could potentially challenge him in an arm-wrestling contest.
“Probably [Braun] Strowman,” answered Norton. “I don’t think there’s anybody that can beat me, just technique-wise. Dude is a badass. He’s a powerhouse. I respect everything he’s done. You’ve got to be a certain kind of guy to be able to do promos like that. Not everybody can do it and he can.”
At 58 years old, Norton continues to wrestle a handful of matches a year. In 2017, he competed against Joey Janela at GCW The Arrival. During his time in GCW, Janela made it a habit of wrestling stars from the 90s, taking on everyone from Great Sasuke to Hakushi to Marty Jannetty to Psicosis.
“I love Joey,” said Norton “I’ve had three matches with Joey, and that dude is a stud. He’s the toughest little son of a bitch that’s come down the line. He’s not a little guy, but he’s not a big man. I banged on that little…that’s a tough son of a bitch. I’m so happy for Joey. He’s one of the good guys and he’s doing really well in our business. He’s an outstanding professional wrestler and a hell of a guy.”
When asked if he would be part of Joey Janela’s Spring Break 4, Norton replied, “I hope so,” but noted he does have surgeries coming up.
