Report: Weili Zhang Defends Title Against Joanna Jedrzejczyk At UFC 248
The UFC Women’s Strawweight Title is going to be defended at UFC 248 as Weili Zhang puts the gold on the line against #4 Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
MMA Fighting first reported the bout, buts it place on the card isn’t known at this time.
Zhang (20-1-0) is going to be making the first defense of her championship, which the champion won by defeating Jessica Andrade at UFC Fight Night Shenzhen. Zhang will enter the contest while in the midst of a twenty fight winning streak and she hasn’t suffered a defeat in over six years. Zhang has picked up twenty wins as a professional MMA fighter and ten of them came by way of KO/TKO.
Jedrzejczyk (16-3-0) has won two of her last five under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over Tecia Torres and Michelle Waterson. Jedrzejczyk is a former UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion, defeating Carla Esparza at UFC 185 to claim the gold. Jedrzejczyk has previously challenged for the UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship, losing to Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 231.
