UFC/Bellator MMA Veteran Gerald Harris Retires For A Third Time
UFC/Bellator MMA veteran Gerald Harris competed this past Saturday Night at a C3 Fights event, defeating fellow UFC veteran Seth Baczynski.
It would appear that the bout against Baczynski was the final one for Harris, who announced his retirement after the contest.
Harris posted the following on Instagram:
A now retired Harris said the following in the video, with the transcription provided by MMA Junkie:
“I went to Bellator and I lost every single fight. Four fights. Three losses and a draw. I could have quit, (but) I wanted to end my career with a win. It wasn’t easy. I picked a tough-ass opponent –11-time UFC vet. It wasn’t pretty, but I got the job done. Another thing – I had a horrible injury in camp four weeks ago, but I still showed up. I could have canceled this fight. Support your local fighters. I swear to God, this is my last fight. That (expletive) hurt. Thank you all.”
Harris retired the first time after defeating Jorge Santiago at the WSOF 4 in August of 2013, but would return a few years later and retired again after defeating Matt McKeon at XFN 344 in October of 2017. Harris would return and sign with Bellator MMA in early 2018, but the fighter would have a poor run with the promotion and now retires a third time after the aforementioned win over Baczynski.
