Tito Ortiz Hints At A Potential Bout With Cain Velasquez At Combate Americas

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Tito Ortoz faces former WWE Champion Alberto El Patron next month at Combate Americas: Tito vs. Alberto.

Ortiz believes that if he can be El Patron in December, a bout with former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez may materialize.

“It’s not a one and done deal with Combate. I signed a three fight, two year contract with them. So there will be a fight after,” Ortiz said to Bloody Elbow. “Campbell [McLaren] actually talked to Cain Velasquez and he said he’d like the winner of this. If Cain Velasquez can get to 205, I’m in. If he can make it to 210 I’m in.”

Velasquez recently retired from professional MMA competition and has inked a multi-year deal with the WWE.

The former UFC champion first has to get past El Patron, but Ortiz seems to be confident in his ability to get the job done.

“His chances in the fight are pretty much slim to none,” Ortiz said. “I’ll give him that puncher’s chance. He’s a big guy. I didn’t realize how big he was until we came face-to-face.”

Combate Americas: Tito vs. Alberto takes place on Saturday, December 7 from the Payne Arena in Hidalgo, Texas with Tito Ortiz and Alberto El Patron headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on pay-per-view.
