Update on Shane McMahon’s Condition
Shane McMahon was legitimately injured taking a spear from Roman Reigns at Survivor Series last night.
PWInsider was the first media outlet to provide an update on the condition of McMahon, reporting that McMahon was hurt taking the bump and treated backstage. According to PWInsider, sources would not comment on what specific injury McMahon sustained. McMahon also was reportedly in a significant amount of pain as he departed the venue.
McMahon was competing on Team Smackdown in the five on five men's elimination match at Survivor Series when he took a spear from Reigns and appeared to get knocked out or concussed. After taking the bump, McMahon was eliminated from the match due to injury, as the referee stopped his count on a pin attempt by Reigns following the move.
This marked the first match for McMahon since WrestleMania, when he lost inside Hell in a Cell to the Undertaker. McMahon had not wrestled at Survivor Series since the 2004 version of the event, when he faced Kane in an Ambulance Match in the culmination of their feud that year.
McMahon, who is the Commissioner of Smackdown and the son of WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, was teaming with WWE World Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose, Randy Orton, and Bray Wyatt. Raw was represented by Reigns, Seth Rollins, Universal Champion Kevin Owens, Chris Jeircho, and Braun Strowman. Smackdown won the match, with Wyatt being the sole survivor.
