Arjan Singh Bhullar Says Pro Wrestling Crossover Possible, Wants One Heavyweight Title
Arjan Singh Bhullar had a successful run in the UFC, but would then transition over to One Championship earlier this year.
Like the majority of MMA fighters out there, a goal Bhullar would like to achieve is to become the champion and that goal hasn’t changed now that the competitor is in One Championship.
“We had a great debut, fantastic card ONE Century, it was the biggest card of the century. We were successful, it was amazing. Tough opponent, Mauro was. It was a great way to get out there and put my stamp on the division and on the company. Obviously, Brendan Vera is the Champion. I’m here to be a World Champion. Whether that’s next or whether that’s down the road remains to be seen. We’re currently in talks to book a fight in early 2020, first quarter. We should have an opponent locked down,” Bhullar said to Anirban Banerjee of SportsKeeda.
Bhullar is undefeated thus far under the One Championship banner, having defeated Mauro Cerilli at One Championship Century Part Two.
Many MMA fighters have transitioned to pro wrestling and many pro wrestlers have transitioned to professional MMA over the years, which is something Bhullar can see himself doing down the line.
“There definitely seems to be a trend for a crossover between wrestling and MMA happening. It’s always happened, but now more than ever. Originally the pioneer for that was Ken Shamrock. He used to be in the UFC and then went to WWE way back in the 90s. I’ve been watching him as a kid. They called him the World’s Most Dangerous Man (laughs). I grew up with pro-wrestling and it’s definitely something that interests me. Right now my goal is to be a World Champion and to get my fight booked in ONE. I definitely still watch WWE, I also watch All Elite Wrestling. It’s making huge waves and is also on TNT, like ONE FC is in North America and Bleacher Report Live all over the world. They are two companies that are doing big things and I’ve got my eyes on them,” says Bhullar.
There is no word yet as to when Bhullar will fight next, but the fighter is expected to be back in action in early 2020.
