This will be the first time that the event is being held in Philadelphia. The Elimination Chamber event itself started in 2010, around the time when WWE began its current practice of naming pay-per-view events after specific attraction matches.
The structure itself dates back to 2002, debuting at that year’s Survivor Series in Madison Square Garden. The original match featured Triple H, Booker T, Chris Jericho, Rob Van Dam, Shawn Michaels, and Kane.
Over the years, the structure has undergone many evolutions and in 2018, we saw the first-ever Chamber match featuring women. at this year‘s event, we saw the Elimination Chamber structure utilized to crown the inaugural WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.
With the event taking place in March, it appears to be the last stop on the road to WrestleMania 36. WrestleMania next year will take place next year in Tampa, Florida.
