Darby Allin Hasn’t Forgotten About The AEW Title, Sends A Message To Cody & Jericho: ‘I’m Waiting’

Darby Allin says to hell with tradition.

In a new video released on All Elite Wrestling’s Facebook page, Darby Allin talks about bucking traditional wrestling stereotypes. He sarcastically apologizes for not being on steroids and proclaims tradition to be a very ugly word.

“Let’s talk about tradition. Twenty years ago, Darby Allin would have been a ghost, a nobody in professional wrestling. Tradition. Tradition’s a very ugly thing,” he began. “‘Gee, Darby Allin, you should be so grateful someone like you should be so happy to be in the spot you’re in.’ Why? Why should I be so grateful? Is it because I’m five foot eight, 160 pounds and I don’t look like a professional wrestler? That’s the very problem with professional wrestling and tradition. I apologize. I really do. I’m not 6 foot 3 and juiced up on steroids. But I am not fitting your mold. You are fitting mine.”

Darby would then turn his attention to the World Championship match between Cody and Chris Jericho at AEW Full Gear. Having history with both men, Darby would say that he is waiting for whoever should walk out with the title belt.

“Don’t think for one second that I forgot about the AEW Championship. November 9th. Full Gear, Baltimore. Cody, Jericho. Whoever walks out AEW Champion that night, I’ll be waiting.”

Darby received the first-ever World Championship shot in AEW, losing to Chris Jericho in a Philadelphia Street Fight on an episode of AEW Dynamite. Over the summer, Darby and Cody wrestled to a draw at AEW Fyter Fest.

The title match between Cody and Chris Jericho takes place at AEW Full Gear live on pay-per-view.
