Masvidal vs. Diaz BMF Title Match Ends In Controversial Doctor Stoppage At UFC
The “Baddest Motherfucker in the world” was determined Saturday night at UFC 244 at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal have never reached the mountaintop in the UFC and captured a world championship. Their records might not indicate that they’re main event caliber, but their main event fight garnered the most interest of any other MMA fight all year.

With WWE legend The Rock in the house to crown the champion, and President Donald Trump looking on, the two men did battle.

After a brief grappling exchange, Masivdal caught Diaz with a nasty elbow that busted him open, followed by a head kick that put Diaz on his back. Masvidal was clearly the much stronger fighter in the clinch, and ended up taking the first round in fairly one-sided fashion outside of a couple of big Diaz strikes. In round 2, Masvidal body kicks set up a huge right hand by Masvidal that puts Diaz down again. Diaz poured it on in the middle of the round, and Masvidal is starting to feel it, but isn’t out of gas.

In a highly controversial move, the NYSAC doctor stopped the fight due to a cut after the third round. The decision was met with a chorus of boos and “bullshit” chants.

Accompanied by Roberto Duran, Masvidal said after the fight that he wants to run it back so he can finish Diaz. Nate Diaz said he wants to run the fight back as soon as he heals up.
