Report: Bellator 231 Brings In Over 250,000 Viewers

This past weekend, MMA fans were treated to a trio of MMA events, but only Bellator 231 aired on national television.

The numbers weren’t very good for the show, as a report from MMA Fighting states that an average of 265,000 viewers checked out the card, making it the third lowest watched Bellator card for 2019. The bouts that made up the main card included Frank Mir defeating Roy Nelson, Phil Davis defeating Karl Albrektsson, Ed Ruth defeating Jason Jackson, Ilara Joanne defeating Bec Rawlings and Jake Hager fighting Anthony Garrett to a no contest.

Competition was at a premium for the Friday Night Bellator card, as the MLB World Series on Fox, NBA Basketball on ESPN and WWE Smackdown on Fox Sports 1 all aired opposite of Bellator 231.

There were two other big MMA events this past weekend in the form of UFC Fight Night Singapore and Bellator 232, but both of them streamed live on ESPN+ and DAZN respectively.

Bellator MMA is off this weekend, but the UFC is back on ESPN 2 on Saturday Night with the UFC 244 preliminary card and the PFL 9 main card airs live on ESPN 2 this Thursday Night.
