Report: Marina Rodriguez Steps In At UFC Fight Night Washington DC
Cynthia Calvillo needed a new opponent for UFC Fight Night Washington DC after the withdrawal of Claudia Gadelha and now she has one in the form of Marina Rodriguez.
Brett Okamoto of ESPN first reported the bout, but its position on the card is unknown at this time.
Calvillo (8-1-0) enters the contest while riding a two fight winning streak, beating the duo of Poliana Botelho and Cortney Casey. Calvillo has competed six times under the UFC banner and half of those encounters went the distance. Calvillo has suffered a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that came to Carla Esparza at UFC 219.
Rodriguez (12-0-1) has won two of three in UFC competition, with those wins coming over Jessica Aguilar and Tecia Torres. Rodriguez competed on Dana White’s Contender Series Brazil Episode 2, defeating Maria De Oliveira Neto by first round TKO. Rodriguez has competed thirteen times as a professional MMA fighter and nearly half of them went the distance.
UFC Fight Night Washington DC takes place on Saturday, December 7 from the Capital One Arena in Washington DC with Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ESPN.
