Welterweight Fight Removed From UFC 206
The UFC 206 fight card took a hit as a welterweight division contest between Chad Laprise and Li Jingliang has been pulled from the card. The reason behind the fight cancelation is that Laprise has suffered an undisclosed injury during training.
The bout was set to be a part of the evening’s preliminary card next month. Jingliang was pulled from the card as well because UFC officials felt that a suitable replacement couldn’t be found in time.
Laprise (11-2-0) would have been making his welterweight division debut in this fight, he earned a record of 4-2-0 as a lightweight in the UFC. Laprise also won the UFC Ultimate Fighter Nations, defeating Olivier Aubin-Mercier in the finals of the reality show. Laprise also fought twice under the Bellator MMA banner, defeating both Josh Taveirne and Ainsley Robinson.
Jingliang (11-4-0) has rotated wins and losses thus far since coming to the UFC, his last fight was a victory over Anton Zafir at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale. Jingliang has fought a total of two TUF alumni during his UFC run, defeating Dhiego Lima and suffering a defeat to Nordine Taleb. Jingliang is a veteran of the Legends Fighting Championships promotion, where he earned a total of five wins throughout his career.
UFC 206 takes place on Saturday, December 10 from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada with Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson headlining.
