Lucha Bros, SCU Advance To AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament Semifinals

The final four teams in the AEW World Tag Team Championship tournament are set.

The October 16 episode of AEW Dynamite saw both SCU and the Lucha Bros advance to the tournament semifinals with wins against Best Friends and Jurassic Express, respectively, in separate matches.

Starting off, SCU was going to be represented by Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels, but Daniels was attacked by the Lucha Bros before the match and was replaced by Scorpio Sky. Despite the last-second change, Sky and Kazarian defeated Best Friends to advance to the semifinals. They will take on The Dark Order, who had a first-round bye in the tournament.

As for Lucha Bros, they faced Jurassic Express, who had their own injury problems. Originally set to face the Lucha Bros were Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy, but after Luchasaurus was pulled from the show due to injury, Jungle Boy teamed with Marko Stunt. Lucha Bros still picked up the victory and will take on Private Party in the semifinals.

The tournament is set to crown the first-ever AEW World Tag Team champions and the semifinals is scheduled to take place on the October 23 episode of AEW Dynamite. The tournament finals will take place on October 30.
