Vince McMahon Pleased With The Reaction That Goldberg Has Gotten

Goldberg and Brock Lesnar meet at Survivor Series on Sunday, and Vince McMahon for one, seems pleased with the way the fans are reacting to Goldberg. In an article that ran on the Fox Sports website, McMahon spoke about how happy he was with the positive response that Goldberg received upon his return in Denver on October 17.

"The reaction to Goldberg confirmed our confidence that Bill is still not only relevant in the WWE world, his reaction was met with passionate exuberance even after a decade's absence," he said. Vince also made sure to put over the main storyline about Goldberg taking one last match for his family. "Bill's son has never seen him perform and Bill's wife and son were blown away with the reaction in Denver. Survivor Series is going to be on fire!"

Goldberg has been away from the WWE, and in fact, away from a wrestling ring, for over twelve years, but crowds have generally been very excited for this return.

For the most part.

Vince didn't mention the reaction to Goldberg that occurred in Minneapolis, Brock Lesnar's hometown, when chants broke out of "Goldberg Sucks!" It might be a sore subject for Vince, who was said to have been livid at the crowd's reaction, and pulled the plug on the segment early.

It is a rematch of their Wrestlemania XX bout, which was poorly received by fans at the time, because it was leaked that it was to be both men's last match for the company. The crowd turned on the match early and never let up, voicing their displeasure with the exiting superstars at the top of their lungs.

But Vince apparently isn't letting the memory of that debacle stain the build to this Survivor Series match. He spoke about how this rematch is being billed as Fantasy Warfare. "Goldberg vs Lesnar is married to the WWE2K17 video game where fantasy warfare meets reality. It's Ali vs Marciano, Mayweather vs Sugar Ray Leonard … Goldberg vs Lesnar."

Goldberg vs Lesnar is considered by many to be the Main Event of the Survivor Series Pay-Per-View, which also features three Raw vs Smackdown Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Matches. The event is going to be 4 hours long, with a 2 hour Kickoff Show, and all six hours will be covered live right here at Fightful, featuring a Live Viewing Party and a Post-Show Podcast.
