Report: Ilima-Lei Macfarlane vs. Kate Jackson Headlines Bellator 236, Grand Prix Bout Also Set
The Bellator MMA Women’s Flyweight Title is going to be defended in the main event of Bellator 236 according to Khon2 as champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane defends the gold against Kate Jackson.
Macfarlane (10-0-0) is going to be making the fourth defense of her championship, last defending it against Veta Arteaga at Bellator 220. Macfarlane has previously defended the title three times and all of those title defenses ended by a form of finish. Macfarlane has picked up ten wins as a professional MMA fighter and six of them have come by way of submission.
Jackson (11-3-1) enters the contest while in the midst of a two fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Anastasia Yankova and Lena Ovchynnikova. Jackson has suffered three losses as a professional MMA fighter, with two of them coming to a pair of UFC veterans in Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Valerie Letourneau. Jackson competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 23, making it to the semi-finals before losing to Tatiana Suarez.
A Bellator Featherweight World Grand Prix bout will serve as the co-main event of the show according to Khon2 as Derek Campos faces AJ McKee.
Bellator 236 takes place on Saturday, December 21 from the Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, Hawaii with Ilima-Lei Macfarlane and Kate Jackson headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be announced.
