Marty Scurll: Everyone Agrees I Should Have Won The ROH Title At MSG

Marty Scurll talks not winning the ROH Title.

At ROH-NJPW G1 Supercard in April, Matt Taven shocked the world when he won a triple threat ladder match to capture the ROH World Title. The bout featured then-champion Jay Lethal and ultra-popular Marty Scurll. Many fans felt it was Scurll’s time to win the title, but ROH went in a different direction. A reason believed for Taven’s victory was that Scurll’s contract with the promotion was up in November and there was no guarantee that he would re-sign.

“ROH has been a great home for me. I’ve had some of my greatest wrestling experiences here,” Scurll told The Mirror. “To me it has potential to be everything wrestling should be. I’ve been the biggest star here for a long time. But there’s still a lot I need to achieve – I think everyone agrees I should have won the world championship at MSG – now it’s time to right those wrongs.”

It turns out, Taven’s contract expires at the end of the September and he has yet to reportedly re-sign. You can view Taven’s comments about his upcoming expiring contract by clicking here.

As for Scurll, he wouldn’t reveal his next move when his contract eventually expires.

“As a business man running a huge enterprise, it wouldn’t be smart for me to discuss my potential business decisions with a journalistic tabloid. That being said, I certainly aim to make waves in the wrestling world, and continue to raise Villain Enterprises stock through the roof.”

Many fans believe Scurll is AEW-bound due to his ties with The Elite. Scurll was a big part of Bullet Club and Being The Elite alongside Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks and Cody Rhodes. When asked about AEW, Scurll said, “All my friends are dead. What the f*** is AEW?”

Scurll is scheduled to compete against Colt Cabana in the first round of the Final Battle Number One Contender Tournament at ROH Death Before Dishonor.

Fightful will have live coverage of ROH Death Before Dishonor tonight, Sept. 27, beginning at 9 p.m. ET.
