Dana White Has No Regrets About Releasing Matt Riddle, Happy For WWE Success

Matt Riddle is currently part of the WWE NXT brand and has had a successful career as a professional wrestler.

There was a point in time where Riddle was a professional MMA fighter under the UFC’s auspices, but would eventually get released by the promotion after a pair of failed drug tests. UFC President Dana White says that he has no regrets about releasing the welterweight, while also acknowledging that Riddle may feel the opposite about the situation.

“Listen, I’ve heard interviews with Matt Riddle and he’s very fired up about being let go. That place and time where we were, it was the right move. I’m happy for him, I’m happy he has been successful and is doing well. I don’t wish the kid any ill will, I don’t hate Matt Riddle or dislike Matt Riddle in any way. I know he feels the opposite…as he should, but I don’t wish him any ill will or anything like that. I don’t regret the decision I made at that time,” says White during an appearance on the My Mom’s Basement Podcast with Robbie Fox.

Riddle spent the majority of his professional MMA career competing in the UFC, earning a record of 7-3-0-2NC in the promotion (8-3-0-2NC overall). Riddle hasn’t competed in MMA since February of 2014, where he defeated Michael Kuiper by second round submission at Titan Fighting Championship 27.

Riddle competes against Adam Cole on next week’s episode of WWE NXT.
