Rashad Evans & UFC Part Ways, Evans May Return To Fighting

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans was last seen in action on the preliminary card of UFC 225, suffering a knockout loss to Anthony Smith

Evans would retire from professional MMA competition a short time later, but has now parted ways with the UFC for a potential return to action.

“I changed my diet after I retired and it’s drastically changed my body and how I feel,” Evans told ESPN. “I am definitely heavily thinking about coming back. I just felt, when it came down to it — I want to make some money in this comeback and I didn’t know if the UFC was interested. They’re focused on something different. I don’t think they’re into bringing back the older fighters who have retired. They’re into what’s next, what’s new.”

The fighter will potentially sign with a promotion while in the midst of a five fight losing streak, while Evans hasn’t picked up a win in almost six years.

Ali Abdelaziz, who serves as Evans’ manager, says that he’ll be talking to promotions soon about acquiring Evans’ services.

“He and Dana White talked, and it was a mutual decision,” Abdelaziz told ESPN. “He’s been back in the gym, and he’s feeling really good. I think there are a lot of fights out there for Rashad, and I’ll be talking to other promotions about him shortly.”

There are a lot of options out there for Evans to sign with, including Bellator MMA, Rizin, PFL, Combate Americas and others.
