Triple H: Nowadays, Everything Is About Creating Your Own Brand

Triple H discusses the evolving world of professional wrestling.

With the advent of social media, wrestlers can interact with fans with a click of a button. And down at the WWE Performance Center, Triple H’s goal is to make sure that wrestlers understand how to market themselves with the use of social media.

“My biggest passion point in the business right now is going to [the Performance Center] and seeing guys and girls come in, knowing that they are just like I was at a certain point in my life, where this is the be-all-end-all and I have to do this, and saying, ‘How can I help them make that dream come true?’ But the world has changed so much with social media and gaming channels and everything about it is creating your own brand,” Triple H told Xavier Woods on UpUpDownDown in celebration of the channel hitting two million subscribers. “We used to just call it…where you would take a picture in front of a limo, you wanted people to see that because it helped your character out. Now you can do that on a 24/7 basis. It’s building your brand.”

Triple H continued, saying, “People like [Xavier] have made almost like a whole other career out of that content and engaging with fans in different ways. For me, giving them every tool that not only allows them to succeed in the ring and on the shows but how they communicate with fans and connect in our world and outside of our world on a 24/7 basis. And how they live their life to know that, when they’re done (wrestling), you can have a long career engaging with the fanbase.”

On a NXT media call prior to NXT TakeOver: XXV, Triple H discussed Malcolm Bivens (formerly Stokely Hathaway) creating his own content with his stolen CD bit on social media. You can view his comments by clicking here.
