Malcolm Bivens Wanted To Do The WWE PC Combine To Show His Commitment To Working

Malcolm Bivens wanted to show he was ready to work.

This past May, WWE aired the Performance Center Combine on the WWE Network. Those who train at the WWE PC were put to the test in a series of athletic events that included ring agility, broad jump, bench press, and more. Standouts, in terms of results, included Bianca Belair, Riddick Moss, and Reina Gonzalez.

Another standout was Malcolm Bivens (formerly known as Stokely Hathaway), simply for the fact that he took part in the combine despite being a manager and more known for his comedy than his athleticism. Speaking to Sam Roberts on the NotSam Wrestling Podcast, Bivens revealed why he took part in the combine.

“I knew I couldn’t prove that I was athletic, but I think I had to,” said Bivens. “When I first signed, I think there was a misconception that I was just hanging out at the PC. In reality, I’m doing everything everyone else is doing. I thought that was an opportunity for me to show that I’m committed to doing this. I’ve gotten in great shape doing the combine and strength and conditioning. It’s helped me bond with other people in the locker room because it’s the mutual respect. The combine was optional but it was a test for me and to show everyone that I’m here to do work.”

Prior to discussing his performance during the combine, Bivens joked about his status in the locker room, saying, “It’s weird to walk into the locker room and Adam Cole, Johnny Gargano, and Matt Riddle, who are these talented people, are sitting beside me and I’m just this horrible human being who talks for a living.”

Elsewhere on the podcast, Bivens discussed his journey to WWE. You can view his comments by clicking here.
