Nikki Cross Says Her Initial Rejection From WWE Taught Her To “Pick Herself Up”

Nikki Cross talks initial WWE rejection.

Before she was signed by WWE in April 2016, Nikki Cross was initially rejected from the promotion following her 2015 tryout. And while the rejection got Nikki down, it eventually made her stronger.

“When I first did my tryout, [WWE] said, ‘No, not right now.’ A few weeks later, they were like, ‘we’ve decided to bring you in.’ It’s a weird feeling because I know what it’s like to get the no, the yes, and the maybe,” recalled Cross when talking to Lilian Garcia on Chasing Glory. “It made me be so grateful and appreciate it. Getting the ‘no,’ I was in Japan and I got the email and for like two weeks, I was really down. Then I just started sending out emails and CDs and was like, ‘Okay, I’m gonna go wrestle in Mexico.’ It was never, ‘I’ll quit wrestling,’ but I had to pick myself up. I would not change a single step of that because it taught me to pick myself up.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Cross discussed her relationship with Alexa Bliss, whom she currently holds the Women’s Tag Team Titles with. You can view her comments by clicking here.
