Joey Janela Didn’t Think “Fight” With Enzo Amore Would Blow Up The Way It Did

Joey Janela talks Enzo “fight” and more.

On July 9, news came out that Joey Janela and Enzo Amore got into a drunken confrontation following a Blink-182 concert. The two would continue to argue on Twitter before video of the confrontation was released. The video shows neither man engaging in an actual fight.

Speaking to NJ.com, Janela spoke about the incident.

“I didn’t think something like that would blow up the way it did,” Janela says. “But it was a little embarrassed coming out of it. But you live in you learn. I feel bad that I did it. The guy was trying to have a night out, enjoy himself, just like I was enjoying myself.”

All Elite Wrestling would poke fun at the incident, shooting a promo featuring Janela brawling with Jimmy Havoc and Darby Allin before cutting to Blink-182 who asked, “Again, Janela?”

In terms of wins and losses, Janela isn’t finding much success in an AEW ring either. He was once again on the losing side of things at AEW All Out, falling to Jimmy Havoc in a triple threat match that also featured Darby Allin. The match was sponsored by Cracker Barrel and quickly turned into a wild brawl and stunt show, which is the style of wrestler many fans view Janela as. However, he is quick to point out that he hasn’t done as many deathmatches as people assume.

“In reality I’ve only done five of those (hardcore-style) matches,” Janela said. “I’ve done over a thousand regular matches…and people pigeonhole me, but that’s fine because growing up I appreciated (those types of matches).”

Janela might be more associated with the hardcore-style matches due to his affiliation with Game Changer Wrestling, which has carved out a niche for themselves as a hardcore/deathmatch promotion. Janela has helped build GCW into one of the most popular Independent promotions in the country, but with AEW moving to a full-time schedule, Janela will say goodbye to GCW on Sept. 30
