Report: Bellator 225 Brings In 285,000 Viewers
This past weekend, MMA fans were treated to the Bellator 225 card, which was headlined by a rematch that saw Sergei Kharitonov score a second round TKO win over Matt Mitrione.
The event, which aired live on the Paramount Network, brought in an average of 285,000 viewers according to MMA Fighting. Other bouts on the main card saw Vitaly Minakov defeat Timothy Johnson, Tyrell Fortune defeat Rudy Schaffroth, Alejandra Lara defeat Taylor Turner and Yaroslav Amosov defeat David Rickels.
Competition was at a premium for Bellator 225, as an NCAA Football game on ESPN brought in nearly 6,000,000 viewers and an NFL Pre-Season game brought in over a million viewers on the NFL Network, while a Top Rank Boxing event on Fox Sports 1 brought in over 300,000 viewers.
Bellator MMA is now off until September 7, when the promotion presents Bellator 226, which is going to be headlined by a heavyweight title bout as Ryan Bader defends against Cheick Kongo. The UFC is up next this weekend with UFC Fight Night Shenzhen, which will see a seven fight preliminary card air live on ESPN.
