Countdown To UFC 205: UFC 205 Fight Pass Preliminary Card Preview
The biggest event in UFC history is upon is and on the third day of the “Countdown To UFC 205,” we are going to take a look at the two fights on the UFC Fight Pass portion of the preliminary card. There were originally three fights on this portion of the preliminary card, but a middleweight bout between Rafael Natal and Tim Boetsch was moved to the Fox Sports 1 portion of the preliminary card after Rashad Evans was pulled from the event.
UFC Women’s Bantamweight Division Fight
Liz “Girl-Rilla” Carmouche (10-5-0) vs. Katlyn Chookagian (8-0-0)
Carmouche will be competing for the first time in nineteen months, her last bout was a victory over Lauren Murphy at UFC Fight Night 63. Chookagian made her UFC debut earlier this year at UFC Fight Night 91, where she defeated Lauren Murphy via a unanimous decision. Carmouche was a part of the first ever women’s fight in UFC history and now she will be a part of the first ever women’s bout in Madison Square Garden. Chookagian is a former Cage Fury Fighting Championships Women’s Bantamweight Champion, Isabelly Varela for the gold at CFFC 55.
Prediction: Murphy is going to want to get the fight to the ground and then assault Chookagian with strikes, but Chookagian has a better stand up game and she neutralizes Carmouche to get a decision victory.
UFC Lightweight Division Fight
Jim Miller (27-8-0-1NC) vs. Thiago “Pitbull” Alves (21-10-0)
Miller is going to enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak, defeating Takanori Gomi and Joe Lauzon respectively. Alves will be making his lightweight division debut in this fight, he previously spent his fifteen-year career in the welterweight division. Miller will be fighting for the fourth time in 2016, which is the most active he has been in over six years. Alves has previously challenged for the UFC Welterweight Title, losing to then champion Georges St. Pierre at UFC 100.
Prediction: Alves will look good early with his leg kicks and counter striking, but the weight cut affects him and Miller uses his wrestling game to win the last few rounds, plus the decision as well.
