Kevin Owens Explains Why He Didn’t Pin Elias For The WWE 24/7 Title

Kevin Owens walked away for a good reason.

On Tuesday’s episode of WWE SmackDown, Kevin Owens laid out Elias with a Stunner, getting a measure of revenge for his King of the Ring tournament loss. At the time, Elias was the 24/7 Champion and many fans wondered why Owens didn’t take the opportunity to pin Elias and win the 24/7 Title. Speaking to Cathy Kelley after the incident, Owens explained why he didn’t cover Elias.

“I had Elias down, obviously. First, there was no referee with me,” explained Owens. “I’ll be honest with you, I got a lot going on right now, dealing with this Shane McMahon thing. Tonight was more about getting a little bit of retribution on Elias for King of the Ring. I’ve got two kids, a wife, a family I’ve got to take care of as good as I can. I’ve got three dogs, three cats, I’ve got a lot on my plate. I don’t need to be walking around on my days off and guys trying to school boy me left and right on the street. I can’t deal with that. Maybe at some point, I’ll be ready, but right now I have too much on my plate. While I appreciate everybody trying to tell me to pin him for the 24/7 Title, it wasn’t right for me.”

R-Truth tried to take advantage of the laid out Elias by covering him, but Drake Maverick pulled Truth out of the ring and took the victory, and the 24/7 Title, for himself.
