Justin Wren Says Health Issues Have Kept Him From Competing

Justin Wren hasn’t been seen in action since Bellator 174 in March of 2017, where he defeated Roman Pizzolato by first round submission.

It has now been two-plus years since Wren competed and the fighter says that is due to a variety of health issues.

“I’m definitely not retired,” Wren told MMA Junkie. “I have some potential dates. I had a shoulder surgery and then right I’m now I’m even kind of exhausted mentally because last week I had an endoscopy, I have some sort of parasite or bacteria so I picked that up on my last trip. The time before that it was dengue fever, three times before that it was malaria and there’s been health challenges for sure.”

Wren is currently riding a six fight winning streak and the UFC/Bellator MMA veteran hasn’t been defeated in almost a decade.

When Wren does make a return to action, one thing the fighter knows is that he has to get after it before it is too later.

“If I do get healthy and focused I do still have big dreams in MMA and I still have time,” Wren said. “I’m only 32, I know that time is ticking to get after it.”

The fighter also revealed to MMA Junkie that he could be returning to action this December, but nothing has been made official at this time.
