Emanuel Navarrete, Jose Pedraza Added To Tyson Fury vs. Otto Wallin Undercard
Several current and former world champions will compete on the undercard of Tyson Fury’s upcoming fight against Otto Wallin on September 14.
Top Rank announced that WBO super bantamweight champion Emanuel Navarrete will defend his title against Juan Miguel Elorde in the co-main event of the event, taking place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The card, which will be streamed on ESPN+, will have Navarrete return to the ring and defend his title just four weeks after his last title defense.
Navarrete, who has held the WBO 122-pound title since December 2018, fought on August 17 in Los Angeles when he stopped Francisco De Vaca in the third round of a Top Rank on ESPN main event. It was Navarrete’s second straight win inside the distance with the first one being a 12th-round stoppage win over former titlist Isaac Dogboe.
Elorde, the grandson of International Boxing Hall of Famer Flash Elorde, has won 18 straight fights since suffering his first pro loss dating back to 2011, capturing the WBO Asia Pacific title. In his last time out, Elorde, ranked No. 2 by the WBO, won a 12-round decision over Shohei Kawashima this past March.
Also announced by Top Rank is a junior welterweight fight between two-time world champion Jose Pedraza and Jose Zepeda. Pedraza will be looking to make the jump to 140 pounds in an effort to win a title in a third weight class. After losing his WBO lightweight title to Vasiliy Lomachenko in 2018, Pedraza bounced back with a ninth-round stoppage win over Antonio Lozada in May. Zepeda will look to get back in the title picture as he narrowly lost a majority decision to WBC and WBO junior welterweight champion Jose Ramirez in February.
Former super flyweight champion Carlos Cuadras will return to the ring for the second time this year as he will face Jose Maria Cardenas in a 10-round super flyweight bout. The rest of the undercard has been announced and below is the updated card:
