HBO Confirms “Ballers” Will End After Five Seasons
After the upcoming fifth season, The Rock‘s HBO series, Ballers will be coming to an end.
The former WWE Champion took to Instagram to announce the end of the show, Speaking openly about how the show opened the door for actors to transition from the big screen to major television series.
“When they came to me with this idea of Ballers, at the time, there were no movie actors and movie stars really doing television. At that time, I really didn’t want to concern myself with what was happening traditionally, I didn’t want to trailblaze, but I certainly wanted to disrupt,” he said.
“It’s been an honor to produce and it has been an honor to deliver to you guys, the fans. And also, I will raise my glass, of course, of tequila, in honor of the show and in gratitude to you guys, the fans, because not only did you make us the highest-rated show, but what you also did, is you helped us create a platform with longevity and that platform, gave other actors who at that time were really unknown and working their asses off the men and women working their asses off to turn the corner, to make something of themselves and to build their own career in their own network and brand.”
The final season of HBO’s Ballers begins this Sunday.
