Henry Cejudo Says He’ll Have An Announcement To Make Tonight

Two division UFC champion Henry Cejudo hasn’t competed since defeating Marlon Moraes to win the UFC Bantamweight Title at UFC 238.

While Cejudo hasn’t competed since that win, it won’t stop him from making an announcement tonight on ESPN.

“Dana White can say what he wants, but at the end of the day I own two weight divisions,” Cejudo said yesterday to MMA Junkie. “I own the 125-pound, I am the kingpin at the flyweight division and bantamweight division, and there’s a lot of big names. It ain’t just Joseph Benavidez. You think I want to cut another 25 pounds? We just heard Frankie Edgar is making the way down. If you guys didn’t see the message I had, you can go and look at it. Go on my Twitter because I mean business. The other one is – Jose Aldo said it today. He called me out. He’s coming down to 135 pounds. There’s a lot of great excitement in the bantamweight division and the announcement will be made tomorrow night on ESPN.”

When Cejudo does make an eventual return to action, it would be the first time he competed since getting shoulder surgery.

Cejudo is recovering from the aforementioned surgery and the fighter says everything is going well.

“I’m healing pretty quickly, but I’m still not 100 percent,” Cejudo said. “It’s going to be maybe another three-to-four-month process before I can eventually start training again, but I’m making huge improvements. It’s just a matter of time before my shoulder wanted to give out. It finally gave out, and I’m going to have a new shoulder pretty much. I have a screw in my bone pretty much. It happened in the first round against Marlon, which is why I threw nothing but right hands. The will to win. I’m just excited to see what the future holds for me.”

There is no word on who could be next for Cejudo, who has spoken about potential bouts with former UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo, Joseph Benavidez and even UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion Valentina Shevchenko in the past.
