Cody Rhodes Praises Bob Holly As A Mentor In Twitter Q&A
Cody Rhodes has lived out a good majority of his life in front of the world, debuting in WWE in 2007 at the age of 22.
Cody’s first major angle came in the form of a mentor/apprentice story with Bob ‘Hardcore’ Holly. Initially, Cody tried to prove himself across the ring from the veteran, but would ultimately earn his respect.

The two would go on to form a successful tag team, defeating Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch for the World Tag Team Championship in December 2007 on RAW XV. They would hold the championship for six months until Cody would turn on Holly at the Night of Champions 2008 pay-per-view, where Cody betrayed Holly, opting to team with fellow second-generation Superstar, Ted DiBiase, instead.
Throughout their time being paired together, Holly was also a mentor to Cody off-screen, as well as on TV. In a new Twitter Q&A, Cody praised the time he spent with the WWE legend, adding that Bob wasn’t one to sugarcoat things and Cody felt he needed that during his first steps into the world of televised wrestling:
I would say so. Took me to the gym…a lot. Was protective of me in the ring too. Also, didn’t sugarcoat how green and unprepared I was. I needed that. https://t.co/8fWdfD3jqC

Nowadays, Cody is the Executive Vice President of All Elite Wrestling, a position that will grant him many opportunities to mentor young superstars and give back to the business in the same way that Bob Holly did when he took Cody Rhodes under his wing.
