Former Memphis Wrestling Star Eddie Marlin Passed Away

Former Memphis wrestling star and promoter Eddie Marlin has passed away the morning of August 15. He was 89.

The former promoter, who is also the grandfather of Jeff Jarrett, passed away at around 5 a.m. according to Memphis wrestling personality Randy Hales, who was also helping take care of Marlin. Prior to the announcement, Jerry Jarrett, Marlin’s son-in-law, had given an update saying that Marlin’s organs had failed and that a doctor had expressed his surprise at Marlin being able to survive so long in the state that he was in.

During his time as a wrestler, Marlin teamed with Tommy Gilbert to capture a pair of NWA titles — the NWA Southern and NWA Mid-America Tag Team titles as well as the NWA World Six-Man Tag Team Championship with Gilbert and Ricky Gibson. Throughout the 1980s, Marlin also served as General Manager of the Continental Wrestling Association.
