Tyron Woodley Says He Doesn’t Have A Game Plan For UFC 205
UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley is heading into what may be the biggest fight of his professional MMA career as he defends the gold against Stephen Thompson at UFC 205.
While Woodley does plan on leaving Madison Square Garden with the gold, he has a finish in mind for Thompson. Woodley wants to make the same impression he did at UFC 201 when he captured the gold from Robbie Lawler.
“Stephen Thompson will be knocked out stiff at UFC 205. I will have the most memorable performance on the card,” Woodley said to BJPenn.com. "I do not really have a plan. I do not have something where I am going out there to outwrestle him or out-strike him, I just have got drills and techniques that will help put myself in a position where anything that comes I will have an answer for. I will just be going out there to do my thing and if he asks me a question I will give him an answer.”
Once known as a wrestler, the 34-year old Woodley has provided sick finishes of Jay Hieron, Josh Koscheck, Dong Hyun Kim and Robbie Lawler since coming to the UFC. Before entering the Octagon, Woodley had only recorded one KO/TKO finish.
UFC 205 takes place on Saturday, November 12 from Madison Square Garden in New York, New York with Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor headlining.
