Cain Velasquez‘s pro wrestling debut at TripleMania was the talk of the wrestling world on social media and by some in the MMA community, including UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier.
At TripleMania XXVII, Velasquez teamed with Cody and Psycho Clown to defeat Taurus, Texano Jr. and Killer Kross. Velasquez surprised many with him performing moves such as a hurricanrana in the middle of the match with Cormier, a long-time pro wrestling fan, expressing his joy seeing his friend in that environment.
After the match, Velasquez spoke with ESPN and reacted to Cormier’s tweet about the match and spoke about his friendship with him.
“Daniel’s an awesome dude, I love him. He’s pretty much a pro wrestling guru. This is what he’s looked at since he was a little kid. He’s a wrestling expert. For me, to talk to him it was fun. He was texting me and everything. He has his fight coming up. I’m doing my thing, but he’s just like, ‘Call me up,’ because he was interested in this. He loves this. Just to have somebody back home to talk to, it was great,” Velasquez said.
When asked about potentially teaming up with Cormier in the pro wrestling ring, Velasquez said he would be interested in that.
“I thought of that already, yes,” Velasquez said.
Velasquez has also stated that he would want to wrestle again and has previously mentioned that he has signed on for a couple of more appearances for Lucha Libre AAA in the future, though did not specify when that would be.
