Report: Austin Vanderford Faces Doug Usher At Bellator 225

A middleweight division attraction has been added to Bellator 225 according to Ariel Helwani of ESPN as Austin Vanderford is going to be in action against Doug Usher.

Vanderford (7-0-0) has competed once before under the Bellator MMA banner, having defeated Cody Jones by first round submission at Bellator 215. Vanderford also competed on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 13, defeating Angelo Trevino by second round submission. Vanderford is a former CageSport Welterweight Champion, defeating Ben Fodor to win the gold at CageSports 47 in October of 2017.

Usher (10-3-0) is going to be making his Bellator MMA debut in this bout and does so on the strength of a six fight winning streak. Usher hasn’t suffered a defeat as a professional MMA fighter in almost four years, with that last loss coming against Jamie Pickett at Legacy Fighting Championship 47. Usher has competed thirteen times as a professional MMA fighter and only three of those encounters went the distance.

Bellator 225 takes place on Saturday, August 24 from the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut with Matt Mitrione and Sergei Kharitonov headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
