Report: Rafa Garcia Faces Erick Gonzalez For Inaugural Combate Americas Lightweight Title

The first ever Combate Americas Lightweight Champion is going to get crowned this September according to MMA Fighting as Rafa Garcia is going to be in action against Erick Gonzalez. 

Garcia (8-0-0) has already picked up five wins under the Combate Americas banner, with notable wins over UFC veteran Estevan Payan and Bellator MMA veteran LaRue Burley. Garcia has competed eight times as a professional MMA fighter and just one of those encounters went to the judges scorecards. Garcia has picked up eight wins as a professional MMA fighter and six of them have come by way of submission. 

Gonzalez (10-3-0) has won six of eight bouts in Combate Americas competition and will enter the championship encounter riding a two fight winning streak. Gonzalez has already competed twice in 2019, picking up victories over the duo of Alejandro Martinez and Won Sik Pak. Gonzalez has picked up ten wins as a professional MMA fighter and seven of them have come by way of KO/TKO. 

Combate Americas will crown their first ever lightweight champion on Friday, September 20 from the Auditorio Del Estrada in Mexicali, Mexico with Rafa Garcia and Erick Gonzalez headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on DAZN.
