Donald Cerrone Wants To Fight Damian Maia At UFC 207

Donald Cerrone is preparing to fight Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 205 in New York, but that hasn't stopped the welterweight star from planning his next appearance in the octagon.

If the fighter has his way, he'll compete again in just under two months at UFC 207, he would like to fight Damian Maia at the event as well.

"What I really want to do (after UFC 205), which I think makes the most sense right now is Damian Maia," Cerrone said at a UFC 205 media event. "Let's see if Demian will be ready to fight on December 30th. He's up there kicking ass, so that's what I want to fight. He's probably the guy to fight next for the title, right? He's crushing everybody. A lot of those people get scared of people when they're good. I like it. So, bring that sh-t on."

However, if Maia is unable to compete at the event, Cerrone also stated at the same media event that he would fight at a lighter weight class, if the cash was there.

"Oh man, if the money's right, I'd damn sure would make 145 (pounds). No problem. It would suck, but here I am today, this morning, I was 176/177 pounds, eating whatever I want. So, it's nice to fight up and heavy, right? For sure." said Cerrone.

UFC 205 takes place on Saturday, November 12 from Madison Square Garden in New York, New York with Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor headlining.
