Report: Cole Williams Replaces Ramazan Emeev At UFC Fight Night Newark
Ramazan Emeev has been pulled from UFC Fight Night Newark for undisclosed reasons according to Marcel Dorff of MMA DNA, replacing him against Claudio Silva is going to be Cole Williams.
Silva (13-1-0) is undefeated thus far under the UFC banner, defeating the four pack of Brad Scott, Leon Edwards, Nordine Taleb and Danny Roberts. Silva is a former WFC Welterweight Champion, defeating Matt Ewin via second round TKO at WFC 2 to claim the gold. Silva will enter the bout riding a thirteen fight winning streak and he hasn’t been been in almost twelve years.
Williams (11-1-0) is going to be making his UFC debut in this bout and does so while on the strength of a nine fight winning streak. Williams has suffered a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that came against UFC veteran Eric Wisely in 2009. Williams has competed a total of twelve times as a professional MMA fighter and just three of those bouts went the distance.
UFC Fight Night Newark takes place on Saturday, August 3 from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey with Colby Covington and Robbie Lawler headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ESPN.
