Anderson Silva Is A U.S. Citizen
Anderson Silva has been called a UFC Middleweight Champion in the past, but now the MMA great can be called something else and that is a citizen of the United States Of America.
A report from the AP News is stating that the former UFC Middleweight Champion became a U.S. citizen this past Tuesday. Silva, along with thousands of others, had taken part in a mass naturalization ceremony at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
“I feel very happy, you know, it’s a great moment for me and my family,” Silva said.
Silva had been seeking citizenship in the United States for at least a decade according to the report, while his wife and children have been seeking the same opportunity for the last seven years.
While Silva will always love Brazil and his family members that still live in the country, home is now in America for the fighter.
“I have my family in Brazil. I have my mom and my brothers in Brazil. But I think this is my country now,” he said.
The former UFC Middleweight Champion was last seen in action in the co-main event of UFC 237, suffering a TKO loss, due to injury, to Jared Cannonier.
