Report: Champion vs. Champion Program Planned In WWE
Are the top two singles champions on Raw about to go head to head? Reportedly, that is what is coming to WWE on Monday nights in December, with U.S. Champion Roman Reigns and Universal Champion Kevin Owens set to embark on a feud.
Dave Meltzer reported a program between Reigns and Owens was in the works as part of Thursday's daily update on his website.
"The plan for right now is to do a Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns champion vs. champion program in December. Keep in mind that will change every week between now and then," Meltzer wrote.
Currently, Reigns and Owens are slated to be part of the Raw five-man team at Survivor Series, taking place November 20 from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Reigns and Owens will team with Chris Jericho, Braun Strowman and a yet-to-be-announced fifth man (assumed to be Seth Rollins) against the Smackdown fivesome of Baron Corbin, Randy Orton, Bray Wyatt, Dean Ambrose and WWE World Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles.
The next Raw-exclusive pay-per-view is Roadblock, taking place Dec. 18 from Pittsburgh. If the plans on a Reigns vs. Owens feud hold, it would be the first pay-per-view match for Reigns for a major WWE title since Battleground, when he was pinned by Dean Ambrose in a triple threat match also involving their former Shield partner Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Title. Reigns, who had just returned from a 30-day suspension for violating the company wellness policy prior to that match, has spent the vast majority of his time since being drafted to Raw embroiled in a feud with Rusev for the U.S. Title, which Reigns won back in September at the Raw-only Clash of Champions pay-per-view.
