A lightweight division attraction has been added to Bellator 225 according to Ariel Helwani of ESPN as Nick Newell is going to be in action against Corey Browning.
Newell (15-2-0) is going to be making his Bellator MMA debut in this bout and do so having won four of his last five bouts. Newell competed on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 14, suffering a unanimous decision loss to Alex Munoz. Newell has previously challenged for the WSOF Lightweight Title, losing to then champion Justin Gaethje by second round TKO at the WSOF 11.
Browning (4-1-0) is undefeated thus far under the Bellator MMA banner, defeating the duo of Baby Slice and Aaron Chalmers. Browning has competed five times as a professional MMA fighter and none of his bouts went to the judges scorecards. Browning has suffered a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that came against Aaron Hall at Valor Fights 32 in April of 2016.
Bellator 225 takes place on Saturday, September 24 from the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut with Matt Mitrione and Sergei Kharitonov headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
